Guidance on picking new set up

I have $800 that i would like to spend on a decent quality set up. This set up is only for recording by the way. I'm basically starting from scratch, at this moment all I have is a brand new computer. So any suggestions on what i should get will be very helpful. Thank you to all who reply

if you have a good signal going in it's always easier... I mix with a pair of sony mdr 7506's... I don't even use my monitors... and my mixes are alot better than a shit load of people...

ok....so with the proper mixing and everything...this set up can sound cd-quality? Like i want it to sound official....not like the shit you hear on 75% of rappers myspace pages all staticky and what not. Hopefully this set up can be sufficient for good quality

I have a emu 1820... a rode K2... sony mdr 7506's... and a Tascam us2400...

the first 3 = quality... so if you like my sound... and think it's cd quality... there ya go.

Aiight thats whats up. But how many effects do you put on your shit? Cuz i know you have a bunch of plugins and vsts, so i had to take that into account also

usually... well now a days...


a soft compressor...
a little eq...
and a tape simulater... not alot... just for a little warmth...


and that's it.
