    I need a little help..

Ok, well I have the Studio Projects C1 microphone, and an Emu 1820.. no mixer, I've never done any mixing to any of my songs, but I kinda wanna start learning sometime. I'd like to know some add-ons to my setup.. I want things that'll better my quality. My budget will be around $300-$400. List anything that could help me with that amount of money. Thanks ALOT.

you can start by getting a new mic preamp... or maybe some studio monitors

yea... you mite as well stick with the 1820 till you get up a nice wad of cash for a new pre/interface... i'de get the monitors, and practice mixing while you save for a better pre and mic. I wouldn't worry about any outboard components/extras untill you have those items

thats gonna worsen his problem... lol

quality level is determined by how a signal sounds before it's altered...

i.e. you cant record through a comp mic, then process the hell otu of it, even with the BEST plugins, and expect it to sound better...

it will probably sound worse by mix terms.
like... it'll probably be flooded with treble, and all kinds of ground noise, and all that...

hardware is the best route to go for boosting quality.
