    chopping loops

using acid pro, i pop an instrumental in and go to work, i just wanted a certain kick i heard in a song.

So i chop that out, and then save it and put it into reason but everytime it plays the sample at the very end of it clicks, or pops. Is there a way to get rid of this?

10ms fade out on the end of the wave.

also a 10ms fade in would help you avoid pops in the begining of the kick if that ever happens...
either that, or adjust the attack on the kick so it's a tad bit slower

yea for the longest i thought i was stuck with pops...

i was making beats before the internet was popular so i actually had to learn it from another producer in my area... LOL.

Couldn't it be the way he chopped it too or possibly the sample itself? Sometimes when i sample drum hits, kicks snares or whatever, those little noises are unavoidable if it's in a spot within the song that's too crowded.

yea i know i was just wondering if it could possibly be dependant on the sample itself. i might be thinking of something different though. I just said that because i've chopped plenty of open kicks before without getting pops on the tail end.

    Re: chopping loops

i take the samples, and i fade them out in acid, but it still seems to be occurring, not in acid but when i load them into reason.....perhaps i'm just not fading them enough? or is there a way to do it in reason? i'll fuck around some more.

a short fade should do the trick...
maybe its an issue with your buffer size on your soundcard

    what soundcard are you using?

if you use the fruityslicer... just info... you can just load the loop into it... and it'll cut for you... then change the attack... if that helps anyone...

just a stock pc card, i think it's a soundblaster audigy? Normally i would run everything through my 410 Firewire, but while i'm at college i don't have access to that, i don't know if that makes a difference....
