^^ Prolly... I'de just get a decent pre and get the mic lata tho. i have firewire solo (150-200) and nt1a, and don't really like it... than again I have no fuckin plugins/software that wont stop crapping. So I can't get it to it's full potential. Seems like any pre under 500 dollars sux ass anyways

i was about to have the same set up as you, m-audio fw solo, but instead i got the emu 0404 usb. and at first i wasn't too satisfied with it either, but (assuming your using adobe audition) just learn to use more of the delay and reverb effect which gives your vocals a nice studio sound to it. my raw vocals i must admit is no more different than what i use to get using a dynamic mic but with less of the hissing noise. i can't mix properly right now since i don't have proper headphones, i'm using ear phones on my laptop lmao. but overall i think i'm starting to get the hand of eqing and compressing the raw vocals. pz.

Na bro i'm using FUCKING GARAGEBAND. I was making some nice shit when ableton was workin.... As well as cubase. But for some reason they keep finding out I have a false serial number and shit... Yea i'm all familiar with compressing and the goodies but when you don't have them on your program.. And don't have any plug ins it kinda sux. Garageband is like... "Male vocal" "radio effect"... Shit like that, radio effect isn't bad but they over did the compressor on it and did some weird shit with the eq, but it's the only one that sounds half decent with my setup.

garageband is better than adobe... but they are both shitty... and the snowball is a shitty mic... because it's usb you don't need a preamp... but a mic and pre for 150 would do you better...

Samson USB mic is only $100 and you could buy popshield and shockmount for $50
