seperated as in they dont sound mixed, or they sound too clean or too muffy for the beat?

either way....you need to adjust your levels and eq, and possibly add some compression for effect if needed.

you probably need some low end in the EQ and a little compression along with a proper mixing of the levels. the vocals need to be mixed with the channels of the beat, not the beat as a whole.

Re: why do my vocals sound separated from the beat???

i had a feeling someone would post this link. ive read through these, the compression tuts talk about compressing instrumentals but not vocals and the eq tuts arent very helpful even though that's something someone would have to learn on they're own so i understand that. but yea, im just gonna have to find a producer then i guess.....

vocals are instruments... and eqing is basically finding what doesn't stand out and making it stand out... so your voice sounds full... what you should do is buy a mixing book... learn how to build a stage and what not...

Re: why do my vocals sound separated from the beat???

It is probably an EQ issue in the "presence range", which is 4kHz -6kHz... try bringing down the frequencies in that range and it will most likely solve your problem.

"Presence — The presence range between 4kHz and 6kHz is responsible for the clarity and definition of voices and instruments. Boosting this range can make the music seem closer to the listener. Reducing the 5kHz content of a mix makes the sound more distant and transparent."
