NAS TAKES AIM AT JIM JONES WITH NEW CD
Nas showcased his return to hip-hop last night during a private listening session for his upcoming album, Hip Hop is Dead, held at Manhattan’s Sony Studios. The rapper was joined by Swizz Beatz, Rodney Jerkins, Bilal and former nemesis-turned-current-label-head, Jay-Z. “Hip hop is dead and everyone in this room is responsible for killing it,” Nas said as he introduced the album to the packed room. However, earlier this week during an exclusive interview with BET, the rapper placed some of blame on the shoulders of a specific New York rapper. “Jim Jones. This is why I made Hip Hop is Dead. When cats are confused, they want to become big dogs overnight,” he said. During the interview, Nas also confirmed that he and Jay-Z would be teaming up for a tour sometime next year. Hip Hop is Dead is slated to hit stores Dec. 19 and features appearances from Jay-Z, The Game, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg and will.i.am.
