I'm leaning towards ordering these two today.. but I ant to be sure I'm getting som great shit..... and if I get these two... would I need anything else to go with it to make it better?

if memory serves me correctly, there's a 1616 and a 1616M with master-level converters. if there isn't two different ones, go for it, it'll sound nice. If there IS two different ones, go with the 1616M, it'll be worth the extra money. It has the same converters as the Digidesign 192 I/O (Pro Tools|HD shit).
It took me a little bit of convincing, but i'm gettin the 1212M for the converters, and investing in a high-end channel strip and mic preamp all linked together with Monster cables to keep the fidelity high. If logic serves me correctly, it'll be sickening.

if there is a 1616 and a 1616m... get the 1616. YOU won't know a difference... if you want better convertors... buy a outboard convertor...
Get the K2... that's all you need... the pre on the emu 1616 is ok... but the k2 is nice by itself... don't believe me..? I'll post a song recorded on the 1820 (desktop version of the 1616) and a K2... with no pre... just the powersource...

no... not at all... I didn't say there wasn't a difference... I said you won't notice a difference. besides... you can buy better equipment to go with it... I know people with a 1820M that don't have better quality than I do with a 1820... I have the product man... it's not that big of a deal... what's the difference between the Soundblaster platinum audigy2 and the soundblaster platinum audigy z..? Nothing.
