"Drop the last 4 bars in the bridge, and make it a pre-hook instead".

That's not the role of the beatmaker.

composers can produce music, but they're not producers.

you can't label anything that can make music, a producer, because it physically "produces" music.

The term "producer" is completly misused these days, to the point were it has become something it really isnt.
I never said beatmakers produce songs. Go reread what I typed.

A beatmaker is always a producer, a producer is not always a beatmaker.

    I am a producer.
if producers produce music and u say a beatmaker is a producer then that's saying beatmakers produce music lol beat makers make beats, producers mix, fix, even write parts of the song. beatmakers dont do that lol

No shit! You amaze me, you really do. I never said a beatmaker produces SONGS (music tracks with vocals).

A beatmaker is always a producer, a producer is not always a beatmaker.

Unless the only thing a producer makes is a song but... Blues albums completely void of vocals still have producers. Somebody produces each music track and then you have an executive producer who throws the entire CD together and oversees the project much like a movie director/producer.

    well you see

the term producer came about back when people didnt have any real machinery to just 'make beats'

it was a collaborative effort to make the "beat" sometimes the band might have the music

sometimes the producer might have sheet music for the band to play

sometimes the band would have music and the producer would over-ride them

why? because he is the producer

as i said the producer is the person entrusted with the responsibility to make a quality track

beat makers are never producers UNTIL they give the track point of view
    until theyre barking out orders

when dr dre is telling 50 cent to sing on the bridge of 'in the club' as opposed to jus rapping it
    that is producing

but just making a beat isnt producing in the least

i mean why do u think people who arent really involved always accuse dr. dre of taking credit for beats?

cuz too many mother fuckers think PRODUCED BY means "i made the beat"

the fuck u think a movie producer does?

Did you read what else I wrote? I stated 'the fuck i think' a movie producer does.

So what does it make me if I make my own music, every part of it, record my own vocals, do my own mixing/mastering, make my own CDs and then sell it to people? That can't possibly be producing since nobody told me how to do it right?
