beatmakers dont produce songs, they produce musical tracks.

producers produce songs, not just the music. Songs as in, the vocals, the way the backgrounds are setup and executed, the transitions in how a singer sings her song, and sometimes even lyrical changes, also including every aspect of how the actual music is arranged. "Drop the last 4 bars in the bridge, and make it a pre-hook instead".

That's not the role of the beatmaker.

you can't label anything that can make music, a producer, because it physically "produces" music.


The term "producer" is completly misused these days, to the point were it has become something it really isnt.

Producers produce music. A beatmaker is a producer. There is no one or the other. If you make music, you are a producer, even if you are just throwing drum patterns over samples.

No shit! You amaze me, you really do. I never said a beatmaker produces SONGS (music tracks with vocals).

Unless the only thing a producer makes is a song but... Blues albums completely void of vocals still have producers. Somebody produces each music track and then you have an executive producer who throws the entire CD together and oversees the project much like a movie director/producer.

it was a collaborative effort to make the "beat" sometimes the band might have the music

sometimes the producer might have sheet music for the band to play

sometimes the band would have music and the producer would over-ride them

why? because he is the producer

until theyre barking out orders

when dr dre is telling 50 cent to sing on the bridge of 'in the club' as opposed to jus rapping it

Did you read what else I wrote? I stated 'the fuck i think' a movie producer does.

So what does it make me if I make my own music, every part of it, record my own vocals, do my own mixing/mastering, make my own CDs and then sell it to people? That can't possibly be producing since nobody told me how to do it right?
