    Read up on the terms used in compression so then youll actually know what they mean and theyll be alot easier to use. Presets limit you too much to what ur tryin to do. Heres a helpful link.

    I wouldn't use presets either mainly because truly skilled engineers can recognize a preset setting and some see it as less then creative... learn to get artistic with your mixing.

    I use presets for baseline mixing and then go and adjust the threshold and tweak the other knobs if I think I need to.
