so i go to control panel then to the audio tab and for default recording device i select it as E-DSP Wave [BC00] (cause i have the emu 1820 as my preamp) then i try to access the volume controls to make sure my microphone volume is turned all the way up and it says my hardware has a problem and to install it using the add hardware in the control panel, does this mean i have to reinstall the emu or what? anyone know whats up thanks.

you don't have the mixer software that comes with the emu card? that is where i adjust my levels. but yeah, give it a try.

yea i do bro patch mix every cat who gets the 1820 gets that shit
after i installed the software mixer i never had to mess with anything in the audio control panel.
maybe you are having conflicting driver issues with your on board soundcard.

select the asio. not E-dsp. go into the patchmix... and make sure you have two oh the wack mixer tracks tagged for input... and wav... that should make it sexy...
and dren... of course he has the Patchmix... or the mixer software that comes with the 1820 as you state... why do I know..? Because you can't install the 1820 without it... besides he wouldn't have conflicting issues... all the Emu drives override any of the stock drivers... it tells you that during installation...

there is no asio to select (in the control panel) do i needa reinstall it?, the emu is up and running i just wanna make sure everything is setup right, do i need to be worrying about the audio setup in the control panel someone just advised me, cheerz

i wouldn't worry about it in the control panel. i never touched the control panel once i got my software for the emu loaded up.
