and thats for a microphone....tell me what all else you have and I'll try to reccomend the best that I can...unless your just seriously starting from scratch...

ok..with the computer...Opey can help you...I dont know shit about computers...so thats where he comes in...but since you have a computer I would reccomend this...
first off your gonna have to save up some more...just wanted to get that out the way...
Rode NT-1 A mic...$150 on eBay
Sony MDR-7600 Headphones...$100
EM-U 1820 Recording Interface...$400 but you can prolly get it for 3 on eBay easy...
of course you gonna need cables and all that shit...but believe me...if you want good quality...none of this shit is gonna be cheap...so I suggest you save up at least 300 more....

go on ebay. you can get a rode nt1a mic for $150 and emu 1820 recording interface for $300. Then pm me for software prices. and i'm sorry but you're gonna need a computer upgrade. you're working with a computer made over a decade ago

Ok you can get a Samson C01U mic for around $80 the mic has good quality and is for recording on computers just connect through usb port.Its not as high quality as the Rode NT-1 A mic but hey your saving about $70 so thats aight.Good Music software for your computer would be Sony Sound Forge 8 for editing and mastering thats around $200 or you could use something simple like magix music maker 2006 and thats like 100 bucks i think maybe cheaper.
