Steps sound in my ear, heart pounding with fear
Thought I’d covered my tracks, thinkin ‘how did they hear?’
They were bound to be near, and craving my blood
So I stalked to the doorway an’ raised up my hood
When I noticed a sparkle… took my blade with a shrug
Heard a noise from above an’ it made me look up
Saw vague figures moving, in the shadows an quickly
Gunshots pierced the nights silence an’ narrowly missed me
I gathered my wits together; ran to the only escape
Tears stung as I laughed, who’da known my homie was fake?
Said he’d hold me a stake, but he’d crossed it for money
Since our fist job together I’d watched his logic turn funny
Now his men were running behind me an’ gaining quickly
In the haste I stumbled onto my ankle an’ sprained it sickly
My face hit the concrete, bounced from the impact
Heard faint noises of movement then the sound of a limb snap
Gathered the power to kick back, but it only lasted shortly
For as my leg hit it’s target the men had blasted hoarsely
My chest pumped out thick blood; body aching for breath
Bullets entered the flesh of my face with the pacing of death
The last noise I’d hear would be the sound of a door
Red trickling from my throat, dripping down to the floor…..
