And now they hear about how life is wonderful in other Capitalist countries, and they risk their lives to get out.

Something else I shoud mention, go to Russia or FYR (both former communist now capitalist countires (or at the very least right wing socialist)) and ask them when life was better, under communism or capitalism/socialism. Itll be unanimous for comminism.

And that communism is stagnant is a myth. in the 1920s Stalin achieved very quick technological advancemnts in a matter of 5 years htat took the west decades. Aside from that take a look at all the other great achievments, sports, space stations, etc...

And like Albanian said: Tito did it (despite the fact I somewhat dislike the man) he brough economic prosperity, peace, and a standard of living that has not been met before and will not be seen for a long time in the Balkans...

The reason it's in shambles at the moment is because it's a transition economy.

Communism breeds inefficiency and stifles competitiveness. Excess government control leads to waste of resources, something of which we don't need at the moment. Captialism works just fine for the moment. People always see the negative effects of capitalism. OH NOES MONOPOLY. Hate to burst your bubble but sometimes a monopoly is more efficient than a bunch of little companies running around and doing the same thing. Things like bulk discounts etc. Whoever said the government is the only entity that can make a monopoly is an idiot and needs to take a first year microeconomics subject. There are such things as a natural monopoly because the market cannot support 2 companies.

The government HAS to intervene in the economy otherwise things such as healthcare, transport etc will go to shit. Public transport is run by the government and they operate at a loss in most places I do believe. Those bus routes that people hardly ever catch but still need would be abolished if said system was privatised. The government needs to provide roads, rules and regulations to keep things fair. But not regulate it down to every last niggling detail.

Also on the inequality note - if income distribution was equal throughout the entire economy captialism would be the most efficient. People who earn more tend to save more whereas poorer people are living paycheck to paycheck are spending all of their cash. More income equality = more spending.

Also welfare payments are a huge source of outflow which could be spent elsewhere. See where I'm going with this?

With government intervention to an extent like today it does keep a basic standard of living for all people. It's up to the population to innovate and produce.

Both ideas are great in their own aspects but economics is a social science and can't predict exactly what will happen. The downfalls are not in the ideas but rather the implementation and administration of them. There needs to be some sort of hybrid system but that will not happen most likely.

People see captialism as the devil and it's not that way at all. I dont know many people who are obsessed with making bajillions of dollars and I am pretty fucking well off when it comes to cash.

You wanna know how real communism is?in its worst form?

First there is the food.What would a person be able to buy:half a bread a day,half a kilogram of sugar and oil a month,half a kilo of meat a week,one egg a day etc.basically nothing.

I remember i used to wait for about 12 hours in front of the store just to buy some meat.


Second,jobs.You don't fucking get the job you want where the fuck you want.After you finish college or highschool they relocate you wherever the fuck they want.So if you want to leave in a town and they tell you to go and work 500 miles away,guess what the fuck you have to do.

Money.Fuck that!both my parents made in total 150$ a fucking month.And they both had good jobs for that time,and finished good universities.before 89 only the lucky people could afford a black/white tv just so they can watch one tv stations taht only played bullshit propaganda 24/7.
We were poor...everybody was.i ate my first orange at 5 yr old.My dad got it from a buddy who was a sailior.i ate the whole orange instantly,without peeling it off.That were the times.

Human rights.If anyone,and i mean ANYONE,even WITHOUT A SINGLE EVIDENCE went to the communist party in the area and said that you are anti-communist...you would've been trown in jail,no fucking questions or anything.And people used to do that oftenly because of anger,money(they used to give you a small reward for shit like this)I used to love Ceausescu,because my parrent tought me that.They were and still are,anti-communist to the blood,but i was little back then.i couldn't understand that Ceausescu was actually a murderer,but i gotta act like i love him so they don't trow my parrents to jail.Every day whe i was in pre-school,members from the communist party used to come and ask us tricky questions to see if our parrent are anti-communist.Entire families i knew dissapered in jail like that.
And there are a LOT of things i can say here,in violations of human rights.Peasents lost their houses and lots.They were obliged to give them to the communist party.those who refused were killed on spot.hundred of villages vanished from the face of the earth like that.etc.

And another fucking thing.The plans for the future were infuckingcredible.The worst was this:Ceausescu planned to start with the capital,and if the berlin wall wouldn't have fell in two years his plan would've been ready.Six great buildings were almost finished.Halls where people will come to eat.In bucaherest no one would've been paid anymore.No mo fucking money.Instead they would've got three meals a day in those huge buildings(moll like structure).and that would've been life.three fucking meals a day and they would've also pay you a one week vacation a year.now tell me how the fuck does communism work for the better.Capitalism is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aay better.In a communism regime you have nothing.not even your pride.
