i grew up my whole life
not knowing my father
16 years past
and it's only getting harder
we never played catch
he never took me to a game
never showed me how to be a man
just hung his head in shame
sometimes life gets hard
and everyone can use a break
but i got to stay strong
for my mother's sake
and it's always tempting
to take the easy way out
but then you'll never learn
what lifes all about
through all the hadrships
i stayed strong
and the only way to learn
is to do wrong
so now i look back
on the mistakes he made
and all the fucking mind games
that he played
but thanks father
for all your mistakes
i'll never be like you
