When the plates shifted, one overlapped the other...in effect, condensing the earth, I think they said a total of nine miles...I'm not sure on that actual number, but I know I read something similar...

Being that the earth "shrunk", so to say, but still revolves on the same axis at the same speed...

It's only natural the day would get shorter by some amount of time...I guess, like posted, fractions of a second...but I guess when you consider 9 miles in relation to the total circumference of the planet...it isn't that big of a deal, but, still notable.
