WHAT IS THE TRUE DEFINITION OF A "BAR" IN "AUDIO" FORMAT??

now i DO know how to rap on beat..but one vital piece of information has eluded me all this time....Would a "bar" be one line of spitten or two lines?

EXAMPLE


"blah blah blah blah BLAST" <---- (would this be a bar)
"yada yada yada yada BITCH ASS" <----(or is it a combination of the two)

OR FOR A BETTER EXAMPLE, LETS GO WITH "NAS IS LIKE"

now can someone tell me where the fuck these "bars" come in??? cause im about to get on a cd with my patna and there is a 8 bar minimum and a 16 bar limit on each song....but i dont want to be over or under....and i also dont want to look hella dumb asking him haha

Usually one line of a verse equates to a bar, but it all depends how long or short you write your lines. Typically in hiphop there are 16 bars per verse.

almost every song you write in audio will be 16 lines.

alot of textcees think a bar is two lines. if that was true, you would be doing 32 lines, and going all over the hook with your verse....

most beats should switch up for the hook anyway, just make sure you dont go into the hook and you should be good.

just follow Ty T. YT's link. that is what u REALLY need to understand. fuck all the answers in this thread. A bar isnt any number of written lines. Music is broken up into bars depending on what time signature they are written in. Rap music is generally written in the 4/4 time signature. This means there are 4 beats per bar. As verbal Conflict said, thats equivilant to 4 head nods. WHen writing lyrics, the amount of words you speak during 4 beats is equal to 1 bar. I really suggest u follow that link because that is all very important info to understand in order to succeed in making any kind of music.
