hollow words and echo answers
mock the depth of my concern
shallow serves a fellow's fashion
protected, though disturbed
swallow words of lover's promise
unsettled in my torso
strangley familiar mimic comments
but were honest when I told you
follow unhealthy thoughts of pity
created of anger and drugs
masked with words of hatred spite
but tightly laced with love

yellow blurs of street signs passing
ignored although discerned
shallow puddles splash aside
unsettled from their sanctum
strangely familiar emotional thoughts
cloud the sound of crashing
follow the stealthy ghost of death
called out of pain for love
masked with hood comes sickle strike
but rightly taking blood
hollow words and echo answers
mock the depth of my concern
tomorrow brings you loneliness
for I will not return
