Another rap artist is slain. Def Jam/Str8Lace Record's K-Ruger passed away on Monday (September 19) in the early afternoon, according to published reports.
Details regarding the details of the rapper's death were still undisclosed at press time.
The death of K-Ruger was "sudden and unexpected," Demetrius Peterson, President of Str8Laced Records, said in a statement, and also expressed that his thoughts and prayers were with K-Ruger's family.
This past week, Peterson was expected to travel from Houston to California to assist and console the rapper's family under these tragic times.
The Houston rapper was one of the first artists signed under Jay-Z's presidency at Def Jam, and gained the attention of the media after inking the deal shortly after Jay accepted the position at the label. He gained a buzz in the Southern city via countless mixtapes, which helped him gain the attention of Jay-Z
The rapper was preparing to release his debut album and was excited at the fact a legendary rapper such as Jay-Z saw the potential in him. According to the rapper, the Def Jam President had said that he was "exactly what the rap game needed right now".
Ironically, K-Ruger had recently commented on the fact that many of hip-hop fallen soldiers were not appreciated until after they died -- naming such rapper as Tupac, Biggie, DJ Screw, Fat Pat and Eazy-E. Now, you can add this young rapper's name to that list.
