Playoffs are right around the corner.

The following competitors will receive an automatic invitation to playoffs and will not compete in Week 16:

The following competitors are technically in the top 8, however, due to back to back no-shows in the last two weeks, they will be required to battle for their spots against the next four competitors in two three-way qualifying matches:

Lauryn (5-9)

lol... you cant come into the end of the season and hope to champ it. Thats not fair in anyway to everyone else.

Fair? What isn't fair? We're not talking about a league that is champed by one poem. A playoff inherently assumes that everyone has a fair chance to get through everyone and play in the final.

I don't really see how thats not fair. I just feel like the top 8 should be based on rank, record. Half a season seems a little ridiculous. Is there enough people to have an 8 person playoff? I think it is important not to let people in who will no show, etc. And if you're inviting people who may not be active right now to join the playoffs it seems a little counter intuitive to exclude people who would show.

Sorry thats a bit wordy and might sound like I'm pissed. I simply feel like that is a little bit silly.

but getting into the playoffs is based on one poem... right? lol

and yeah, we probably should of had a cut off date to join at week 8, however, Abi and I haven't modded this league before, so there is some holes floating around... Next season will be cleaner.

But if people are inconsistent and no-show all the time and they're in the top 8, then yeah... maybe they will be replaced... by the next person following in the ranking system.

It will be adjusted as we see fit at the end of week 16. The 'half-season' stipulation is mainly to say... if you are 6-0 and I am 6-5... you technically have a better record than I do. Why should you go to playoffs when I've been here almost the whole time? You only competed in 6 matches... maybe they were all the bottom ranked because that's who you start against when you enter late... and my 5 loses were against the top ranked. It seems even more silly to think that coming into a 16 week league during week 13 and thinking playoffs would be an option.

And I said in the original post about it... in the rules thread that was posted several months ago... that it would be at least 7 weeks in. So we will change 8 to 7.

Again, I don't care. Just seems like an arbitrary thing. Thats all.

In no way should getting into the playoffs be based on one week or one poem. But, I just like it when people are willing to compete and it, often enough, seems like some people here dodge that chance. In my experience anyway.

I like bigger tournaments though, so it might just be preference. However you guys want to run it is cool, and for first timers in this league its pretty smooth. So no worries. Trust me, I know how stressful it gets. I used to run several topical/poetry leagues, so I know what kind of problems they pose and how much of it is just your preference for dealing with things.

u got a point though it means i maynt make it to playoffs. Line me up for legible contenders who dont show.
