Re: FL STUDIO for...

Yes you could make it, but I advise using and learning another program like Cubase, protools, or sonar if you're using a PC.

U'll have to do post production in another DAW if u use FL studio.

FL9,
one thing about FL 9 is that nobody in the industry uses it, if you're apprenticing somewhere good luck

Re: FL STUDIO for...

no i wont got that far... i have other goals...

my idea with this is just do music to express myself

and for the band pieces i mean sell it or give it out for free to the middle schools and stuff.... not really hardcore going into this....

Fl is fine then, there is no notation support tho, and recording live isnt so good.

Re: FL STUDIO for...

You do not want to use FL Studio for recording live music. Pro Tools, Cubase, Audition, Sonar, Audacity... anything but FL. Pro Tools is definitely the most powerful for live recording, but you'd actually have to know how to use its features. Audition is probably the easiest and cheapest.

i see well my plan was getting like a midi keyboard and playing all the instruments through there... and not actually getting live instruments...

but thanks for the advice i will get Pro Tools.

Re: FL STUDIO for...

get nuendo or cubase or something... not protools... unless you want to get digidesign equipment... that's the only fall back on using protools...

Re: FL STUDIO for...

M-Audio equipment is the shit. And Pro Tools M-Powered is only $150 with a student ID. If you were recording live instruments I'd definitely recommend Pro Tools over Cubase for a number of reasons, but if you're recording midi, it really won't matter.

But I can promise you that unless you're a really sick keyboardist you're not going to get MIDI to sound like live instruments. Especially guitar and drums.

Well, most studios have Macs so I'd have to somewhat agree with him. Pro Tools and Logic rule the studio world. There's obviously plenty of producers that use FL tho. But definitely not too much outside the hiphop world.

Re: FL STUDIO for...

Drums are about the hardest thing to fake. Nothing can replace a good drummer. I do have a couple Pro Tools tricks up my sleeve tho.
