Equipment help.. Opey, Kris, Brandon, ne1 ??

ok so right now i have a studio projects c1 mic (which sucks) and an m audio 410 interface
i'm thinkin about gettin a preamp and mixer to replace the interface
i want a mic w/ a crisper sound.. somethin closer to an akg perception 220 but better
idk if my quality is so horrid because i use an interface instead of a preamp or what
but i know when i first bought my set up a while ago, i was told on this site that an interface was better (wtf)
that shit wuz $400+ compared to a preamp and mixer i can get for a total of less than $300 so as far as i can tell.. price and quality wise.. interfaces SUCK
umm.. Help?
budget of approximately $500.. don't mind goin a little over tho

oh and of course i can use the interface along w/ the mixer but would the preamp then even be necessary? iz it necessary at all?

you don't need a mixer... your interface is better than any mixer you'd buy to replace it...



I don't see how a pre + mixer being cheaper than an interface makes the interface suck... lmao...


as far as mic etc... my suggestion is... forget about mixers.


get a preamp... grace 101 or something around that price range... better yet...

a mixers preamps aren't really good... so buying an aftermarket pre allows you to bypass that and upgrade... all the sound interface does is provide good connections for your audio... to get a mixer to match your interface you're going to have to spend a little over double what you paid for the interface which is why people don't use mixers anymore... they're obsolete...

and keep in mind... because you suck at mixing... and your environment isn't that great... you're vocals are going to come out shitty... it's almost never equipment issues more operator error...


Salv records on a nt1a and some other piece of shit preamp... but he knows how to make it work... but now he has the interface you do... well the 610 and a much better mic... actually the same one I suggested to you... so... relax... there's a lot to learn your padawan.
