It’s wintersome, a rubbledom, a
ruinscape.

See the rusted monuments of marvel and waste.

There’s vermin at
the feast, coyotes mark the tires.

Out along the expressway where the exodus
expired.

Bring on that
new depression now.

When the beasts forget their given names and streetlamps
cave down riverbanks.

Of oil tank fires and feral vines as the urban and
pastoral mate.

What the glaciers and the centuries gave

A blink of drought
and wind erased.

Some men jumped from windowframes

All because of
tickertape

And others still, they road on the tops of vagrant trains

And
prayed for rain

And a new world sprouted from the old worlds ‘decay.

Bring
on that new depression,

The new depression now.
