$125 Audio Competition (Sign ups closed)
1st place $60
2nd place $40
3rd place $25
Sign up in here. You can either drop your tracks in here when they're done or send the link in a PM. I'll make a separate thread with just the entries in when we close this up around 20th December (or sooner if everyone gets finished).
Only rules are that you have to rap on your audio (or video if you don't have a mic) & entries must be 1m30 - 5m total. You can drop acapella or on an original or existing beat.
Can be a fresh track about something unrelated to battling, you can go at every other battler personally or whatever else you want to do, but there's got to be a mention of RW somewhere in the vocal if it's a song so we know it isn't an old one & to confirm it's you.
So far we got
@Slayerr.
@Jack Hallows
@TheShaman
(I think?) & @ChatGPTeezy

that’s not testament to your rap skill though. you be spittin bro. you said it yourself: imagine a live battle when reading your verses. this is your chance to show us what you mean. i, for one, know how difficult it is for audio type bars to translate to text.
give it a shot fammo. guarantee you’d get your point across.

k.. i'm in for a song battle
-
Re: $125 Audio Competition
hell yea, that’s what’s good mal. just remember that it doesn’t have to be a battle track. it can be about whatever you want, just has to include the phrase “ransom writers” in it. you have free reign to get well into your bag bro, niggas been sleeping on you it’s time to pop out & show.

Yeah! Hyped to hear it. I’ve been saying your flow and lyrical, poetic writing style would be sick on track. A lot of us been saying it.

Lmao. yup if you don’t win the audio round i’ma be mad… no pressure though. :laugh:

Re: $125 Audio Competition
what are some topic ideas?
-
Re: $125 Audio Competition
good question. i really don’t have “topic ideas” per se. i usually just start writing & the topic forms as the verse progresses. then once the theme establishes itself, i follow it to its zenith.
i’m not afraid of anyone jacking my theme though so i’ll let you know what i’ve been writing about, not that i’m finished/polished or anything, but the verse definitely found its direction already. kinda similar to the theme “ransom writers” i’m writing about how society writes a check to the youth and holds their minds & lives for ransom. often costing our lives to get it back. military, the streets, police, drugs etc. not sure how i’ma flip it all yet but that’s part of the challenge.
my advice would be to just think outside the traditional box & then kick the box into the fire pit. sometimes your lyrics will help you find your voice once you start writing. maybe that approach doesn’t work for everyone, but it could be a start for some.
sorry if this all sounded like incoherent rambling. i’m been smokin lmao.

i just wrote about a broken relationship... and my track is finshed; just needs mixing ... maybe you can metaphor your topic to talk about a broken relationship also
-
Re: $125 Audio Competition
oh that’s dope. looking forward to hearing it. unfortunately i already have 2 tracks recorded about broken relationships so in an effort to not drake it up i think i’ma refrain from giving these wicked bitches any more of my energy lmao.
plus i don’t wanna bite your steeze.

Re: $125 Audio Competition
Oh shit
@mal diction
&
@FaQEyeReddit
are in too? Fire
Due to the obvious subjectivity of music & unrestrictive nature of the competition it'd be unfair for me to judge this alone so I'll come up with something that works.
@ChatGPT linked up with an AI vocalist & some wannabe producer & has a track ready to go too.
Probs best not dropping the tracks until everyone is ready to go, but feel free to PM me the links so I can post them up in the entries thread
include lyrics too please

Re: $125 Audio Competition
I was thinking of making a beat and just dropping some bars, not write a song per se. Also only if I feel like it at some point. Been a bit busy lately. But since it's in all these different formats, video vs. homemade beats vs. existing beats, I guess it will be kinda hard to judge. I was thinking of just making a killer beat to compensate for my obvious disadvantage of having a foreign accent, lol. But anyway, let's see if I even get around to it. Dope to see some more ppl join, though.
Jack, are you making a beat? You said you were an audio head, but maybe you just have a killer mic setup? :p
-
Re: $125 Audio Competition
@TheShaman
lol nah i’m rapping over a youtube beat. i don’t have any production equipment & i def don’t have a killer mic setup. i have an iphone mic :laugh:
i’m an audio head in the sense i used to record music at my boys studio all the time, never had a set up of my own though.
-
Re: $125 Audio Competition
Ah, fair enough. Maybe I'll just skip the beat part then..

y’all batter not sleep.
Shaman you should def make a beat. you have to make a beat. tell him guys…

Re: $125 Audio Competition
dope shit. i was thinking about beat boxing at first but i have about negative one percent of the energy it takes to beat box for minutes at a time anymore.. & let alone rap over it after lmao.
-
Re: $125 Audio Competition
@Bag Mandela
i have my track ready ... where should i post it?

Hahaha you beat box? Just make a loop. Or use an inward k snare. If I'm making a beat, you're beatboxing my dawg. Could you also do the Rahzel If Your Mother Only Knew routine back in the day? :laugh:
-
Re: $125 Audio Competition
lol nah i ain’t that talented.. i’ll see what i can come up with though. i don’t know if i have editing tools to loop a sample but i’ll see what apps are available. no promises.
& you gotta use you tourney earnings to pay my hospital cost if i pass out from the attempt, cuz i warned y’all lmao.
-
Re: $125 Audio Competition
Hehe, I'm just clowning. I'm still not even sure if I'm in the contest cuz I havn't been feeling like writing rhymes lately. But I used to beatbox so I still kinda like that whole nitty gritty old school hip hop vibe. I havn't tried for a while but I'm pretty sure I can still beatbox on like a 2000's level (the kids today are crazy with the things they can do though, like D-Low). I remember beatboxing forever at a freestyle cypher a couple of years ago, though. That was tougher than I thought, lol. So yeah, don't hurt yourself. Cuz I probably can't afford American healthcare with the amount of taxes we pay here ;) with or without tourney prizes.
-
Re: $125 Audio Competition
This is ChatGPT's effort (non-competitive), you might need captions on cuz the AI vocals were produced on a shitty AI beat so they needed isolating before I could mix them & they're not the cleanest. I only wrote the 1st verse & a couple additions but the chorus & most of the 2nd verse were written by the silicon kingpin in about 10 seconds.

Re: $125 Audio Competition
@TheShaman
lol yo i tried. i failed miserably. well, i got the beatbox going but i couldn’t loop it & the audio got distorted & i couldn’t repair it so i gave up lol. so you’re good, save up for that taxes. by the way, why is Danish tax so high? i read somewhere that Denmark was one of the happiest places on earth or some shit. anyway.. what will it take to get you interested in writing? cuz i wanna hear a track from you lol. what if i promise to write cypher bars everyday for a month.
@Bag Mandela
yo i can’t even front. that rapGPT track is fire. if this is what AI is capable of now, it’s scary what it will be capable of in 5-10 years.
-
Re: $125 Audio Competition
YOO!! That GPT song is lit, I'm sorry to say. Did it come up with that heil ironic double entendre itself? It's getting more and more smooth. And honestly the flow is better than some rappers. Even the "Bius" is said in a way that it feels like it understands it. Crazy shit. Also the British accent BagGPT verse was dope.
@Jack Hallows
Danes like paying taxes, so we get free medical care for instance. I think we're in second place after Finland on happiness these days lol.
I don't think you can do anything about the song, hehe. Have to wait for the muses. But I'll try to get it in sometime. I'm just busy with other things these days, so no promises.
-
Re: $125 Audio Competition
Yeah damn that track’s great. Seriously impressive work. I could imagine it blowing up if it didn’t have those niche references to all of us dorks which nobody offsite would understand.

I expect Bag had to alter the spelling fed into the vocal AI until it pronounced it how he wanted. I dunno but I doubt AI is that good on its own, it takes a lot of skill to get those kind of results from it. I guess the heil ironic and 404 not found lines were directly written by Bag, but I could be wrong. Maybe GPT wrote it but Bag fed it something like ‘write a bar about nazis and skincare using heil ironic as a homophone for hyalaronic’ as a prompt. I wouldn’t worry about our robot overlords taking control just yet.

Yesss, based socialism. I wanna pay more tax too, legitimately. Big up Denmark.

you mean he didnt rap forreal? eeh
-
Re: $125 Audio Competition
The ChatGPT bars needed a lot of work, it rhymed pristine with pristine & didn't have any wordplay, not the heil ironic bar - the 404 / not found thing was probably its most creative, still impressive for 10-20 seconds of computing time though.
The AI vocal needed a bit of manipulation like with the biuuuuus bit & the faux scratching but the flow & everything was already pretty decent. Sings better than me & raps over hip hop tempo beats better than I can too. fml
"Maybe GPT wrote it but Bag fed it something like ‘write a bar about nazis and skincare using heil ironic as a homophone for hyalaronic’ as a prompt" lol this is pretty much what you need to do to get anything out of it. I fed it a few Bender verses to see if it could imitate him but it failed miserably, just doesn't get multis. I'd train my own AI to write bars but it feels wrong, like having a ghost writer.

Something like this might help:
https://yourcreativeaura.com/song-topic-generator/
Or just google ‘song topic generator’ and use a different site if that one doesn’t suit. I tried it out quickly just now, it asked me a couple of questions about what kind of song I wanted and then came out with “You're having a massive sort out in the attic and come across a toy you had as a child that you thought you lost. You now begin to sort out through more old boxes, and other rooms where you store items to see what else you may find.”
Or try a short story prompt generator. If you want something weirder there’s an SCP idea generator which can be pretty wild. I tried it before and it wanted me to write a short story about a specific style of haircut which causes anyone who gets it to be teleported to a beach. lol.

Re: $125 Audio Competition
ChaptGPT might still fail at imitating Bender, but we are still in the beginning stages of this shit. Did you guys see Googles new quantum chip Willow? Here's what they say about it: "Willow performed a standard benchmark computation in under five minutes that would take one of today’s fastest supercomputers 10 septillion (that is, 10^25) years — a number that vastly exceeds the age of the Universe." Hook ChatGPT up with this shit and I think Bender is obsolete, lol.
