October/Halloween horror movie watch list

Very good movie and great acting across the board. Dark themes. Basically, a huge middle finger to societies infatuation with beauty and glam. It's definitely body horror with a small mix of arthouse. Cinematography is great. Almost Stanley Kubricesque in a lot of scenes. Sounds amazing on a good sound system as well. Id rate it a solid 8.5
Going to be watching Alien Romulus tonight, and ill be going to see terrifier 3 this weekend and will give my thoughts on those as well.
If you have seen any good horror movies recently, post it up

Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
peeped Arcadia. dope. Nic Cage always delivers.
new Salem’s Lot was straight. loved the kid. def the most badass vampire hunter in modern cinema.
Tarot & Talk to Me were cool.
Antlers was wild.
Alien Romulus was fucking bugged out. loved it.
Itsy Bitsy was aight. funny & entertaining.
bouta watch Don’t Listen cuz it came highly recommended.
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
Speak No Evil. James kills it.
Blink Twice was a nice surprise.
I liked Alien Romulus.
Sting was surprisingly decent for an alien spider film.
Loved Longlegs.

Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
I just watched Terrifier 3
joker 2

And I’m actually starting the show Penguin which is very fire

Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
Ive seen Speak no Evil, Salems Lot, and Longlegs
Speak no Evil was pretty dope. Got super tense once the little boy showed the girl what was going to happen to her and her family.
Salems Lot was OK, but to me, it didnt really introduce anything new. Decent movie, but not much replay vaiue for me there
Did anyone else notice that both in the Renfield and Longleg movie Nick Cage delivers the same "Hail Satan" line before dying?
I ended up not watching Romulus tonight, im going to save it for Friday
Im watching VHS Beyond at the moment.
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
Maybe Cage converted lol.
Also, Joker 2 was a musical, and it sucked with the exception of maybe three scenes.
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
I have absolutely no interest in watching Joker 2.
Another movie I watched last week that I can mention is Hell House Origins. I liked it better then Lake Of Fire. It adds a lot to the lore of the series but the movie itself was average. I would rate it about a 6. Nowhere near the first two movies which I genuinely think are criminally slept on

Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
Every October I watch the following traditionally:
Idle Hands
Trick r Treat
Scream (all)
The Strangers
Urban Legends
I Know What You Did Last Summer
The Craft
The Faculty
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
The Faculty is fucking elite.
also, thank you. i got Itty Bitty & Sting confused. saw Sting, Itty Bitty is still on the watch list. that exterminator was hilarious.
Nohbody you gotta say spoiler alert cuz damn man i haven’t seen Longlegs yet. loved Renfield though. Cage can play anything lol.
which reminds me. Last Voyage of the Demeter. niggas hated on it but gdamn was that an intense & brutal movie. absolutely loved that take on Dracula.
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
Longlegs is probably my favorite Cage film/role. Dude was phenomenal.
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
damn i gotta watch that stat.

Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
Saving the movie Skinamarink for Halloween so I can’t say if I’d recommend that one yet.
I love the original Nosferatu, and a ridiculously tense psychological horror from Spain called The Orphanage.

Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
Skinamarink was okay. I wasn't a huge fan of the film style. The color palette. It was off putting to me. I can't wait for the new Nosferatu. Love the director.
I'd also recommend Spring, The Endless, and The Sound Block Island. More science fiction than horror but they're dope af.
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
I’ll give the new Nosferatu a chance, but can’t imagine it standing up to the original. If you haven’t seen the original definitely check that out first, the old authentic black and white style, cinematography, everything about it as creepy as fuck

Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
I've seen both the original and the 70s remake. It's a bit dated for my taste though I respect it. The director of the upcoming film did The VVitch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman.
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
I hated the VVitch
I will never understand why that boring pos movie gets so much critical acclaim.
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
I like it but I gotta be in the mindset to sit and pay attention. All his movies are like that. Slow. Dark. Intense. Old fashioned

Another good slasher film. Awesome kills and good practical effects. Hard not to like this if you are a fan of Friday The 13th films. My only issue is that there is a lack of score in this movie. Much of it is almost silent stalking with no ambiance to add other then the natural sounds of the woods. It's very brutal though, and it could be one of those films that develops into a cool little franchise

Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
damn . . . more coming to mind now
How could I have forgot Late Night With The Devil and Abigale
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list

Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
Abigail, the vampire film? Yeah that was dope. Still need to see Late Night with the Devil.

Ohh shit, didn’t know Eggers directed the new remake. Yeah that changes things a bit. Damn how could I forget The Witch and The Lighthouse, they might well be my favourite horror movies.

yea, thats the one. Its not scary, but its good fun

Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
Yeah I liked it. The main chick is hot af. Loved her in Scream 5 and 6. They really dropped the ball firing her. Also loved the scene where the blonde is dancing to Danzig. Dunno why but it was well done.

I wanted to fuck Monica Belluci. Is that wrong?
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
that is never wrong. ever.

just watched Don’t Listen. shit was bugged out. blends psychological horror with the supernatural very well.
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
i tried watching the new hellboy crooked man movie last night . . what a fucking shit show. make it about 25 minutes in then had to turn it off

Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list

Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
yeah it does. i really liked the first Hellboy movie with Pearlman. sequel was decent but i didn’t enjoy it as much as the first. the Chief Hopper version was aight too. felt they could’ve done a lot more with the character & lore with his version. this new guy looks frail & dookie. temu Hellboy.

Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
Watched "The Killing of a Sacred Deer."
Pretty good psychological film. All the actors did their thing. Very intense atmosphere with a dry script. Probably wouldn't watch it again but it's like Saltburn. You gotta watch it at least once to respect it.
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
Watched "Maxxine".
Wasn't terrible. First two acts had a lot of potential. Third act felt rushed and over the top. Ending softened it a bit. I think X is still the best film in the trilogy but Mia Goth did her thing.

Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
not movies, but shows:
The Outsider, based on a Stephen King tale, is dope. & The Terror was phenomenal. shit segued between survivalist horror to mysterious horror very well.
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
i loved The Fall Of The House Of Usher on netflix
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
Fall of Usher was fantastic.
-
Re: October/Halloween horror movie watch list
Midnight Mass was my favorite of his shows but Fall of Usher and House on Haunted Hill were both great too. He also did Doctor Sleep which is one of my favorite Stephen King adaptations.
