Both good songs, but which do you think shows his skills as an MC better? I personally much prefer his older style.

Older.
He's still good now but..
he was better before..he used to be lyricaly dope as fuck and we all loved the topics he talked about as his life..i didnt like most of relapse tho....insane the song is kind of weird by rap lyrically wise it's fucking dope...i still didnt like it as most of relapse talks about rasping womon
His older shits >>>>>>>>>>>>>> newer shit.
let's not get it twisted tho.. Infinate the album is not better than Relapse.. Infinates one of his weakest CD's.. sure infinate the song is ill & theres another 1, but the album was weak...
I hate inifinite! ... that is all
when i say old stuff. i dont talk about infinite..im talking about the marshall mathers lp
and encore...many other songs...he got some dope ass stuff from before
Infinite is his best shit as far as his skills as an MC go, im not talking about production.
His new shit is so wack if he gos this way, he will making disco music for gays in 4 years from now.
How can you compare all dat classic to this New him wit ONE album????
Talk about unfair...
Ima go with da new him....Better MC imo....ish like beautiful....sick
I say da new him bcuz im lookin ahead at wat could be lol
lyrically Em goes, Infinite - MMLP - SSLP ------------------- Encore - Relapse
production wise, probably MMLP - SSLP - Relapse - Encore - Infinite.
not really sure production wise, but Infinite was Em at his lyrical peak.
couldnt agree more!Quote:

Sorry to say. But only Stans prefer Eminem's angry style over his new, much more polished style. He's thirty seven, and life is going pretty good for him. He's already rapped about all the fucked up shit in his life. So, now he's just being creative in his drops. His delivery and lyrics are a lot better now then they use to be. Sorry, but the way I see it. The angry, 'oh life is so hard' people are the ones that prefer the old Eminem. But the people that don't relate musical taste to their emotions like the new Eminem.
I listened to SS LP a lot when I was younger, when I was pissed off all the time, and thought it was the greatest album ever. But now, I prefer Relapse - Refill just because it's better. You may not realise it. But it's mature, more polished rap compared to the old loose cannon shit.
Vote - New
smh at calling people Stans for liking Em's old-wilder looser side. He was a lot doper when he was crazy ass, upsidedown Slim Shady. I can name a lot of his old tracks that are above par as him being Slim Shady. His albums are superb, because he is a lyrical beast. Now-a-days, he has to make a Miley Cyrus/ Kim Kardashian/celeb reference to feel superb. wtf. :hosea:
ok. but back then, he was making britney spears, christina and fred durst references. he just attacks corny celebrities around at the time hes writin.Quote:

i think infinite was his rawest extent of lyricism when he really felt he had somethin to prove .. but over all an album, MMLP >>> everything period .. the features, the beats, obviously lyrics, everything was sick as fuck
hes always writin about his life .. regardless of whats goin on or what hes goin through .. i dont think that can be a critera of whether hes better now or not
Name ONE celeb reference from either Forever or Drop The World, or Beautiful, or Underground. Four new songs that are far better than his old stuff. I'm not saying his old stuff sucks. Just saying his new stuff is better.
Your fourteen, so I won't insult your ignorance. But when you get older, you'll understand.
lol well i dont consider myself a stan, hes not even in my top 5 rappers. its not just the angry shit he done, why do people keep saying that? he done some good positive shit as well!
no, its more the raw energy of his old stuff i like. now its almost like hes diluting his shit so it appeals to the pop heads. art isnt about pleasing people, its about honestly expressing yourself. when he first came out he had that "i dont give a fuck" attitude, and now its like he cares too much about what the masses want. its not about that!
chesh - how can you not relate musical taste to emotions? thats what music is man! thats why i cant stand all this lil wayne bullshit these days. doesnt make you FEEL anything! i know you can appreciate the intellect behind some rappers lyrics, but for me it also has to make me feel something. otherwise its not art.
people are becomming so robotic!
I'm mainly about the lyrics and quality. I'll leave it at that.
Lupe > Eminem
Forever - really? It's not better than his old stuff. His verse > the rest of the verses. but thats about it.
Drop The World - again. his verse was alright, but not better than his old stuff. em has flow in forever and dtp that he has had in a lot of his old songs, that super fast multi type shit.
beautiful - never want to hear this song again.
Underground - post a link of it.

from Relapse
I could understand this argument with MMLP or SSLP but Infinate ain't his best shit str8 up not lyrical wise not nothing
Lmao.. Dagel shut the fuck up.. seriously..
Telling a 14 year old when he gets older he'll understand, like you know any better. Don't sit there and call people Stans because they like his older style over his new one . It just shows how ignorant you are. Simply state what style you prefer and move on. Don't try to make some half assed intelligent post like your opinion is fact.
listening currently. sounds like some weird ass psycho rap shit. i can't get the beat that much. Em's lyrics are weird. Sounds like he's just saying whatever wtf. He said a celeb reference/famous movie references in it too. Christopher Reeves- Hannah Montana - he has used Hannibal Lecter in this song and Drop the World - had Freddy, Jason, etc.
Dude just references random people into random shit. I can't understand the Relapse's lyrical standpoint.
STFU HE. You're really getting on my nerves lately.
lol well chesh only teeny boppers like his new shit. id rather be a stan if i had to choose!
^ word
That's cool, I wasn't trying to insult anybody. My friends and I had this same discussion yesterday. Cry and I were the only two that prefered his newer stuff. It's not even an argument on which is better. It's a discussion on who prefers what.
youve got friends?Quote:

Slim Shady was more underground, and I liked that. But now, he'll release a couple decent songs every once in a while. But I'll listen to Marshall Mathers LP over Relapse anytime. Also, I don't really like when he uses that accent thing or whatever.
His older stuff will ALWAYS be his better stuff
Em will always have better old shit....but dudes nice even now to.. always will be one of the best in my eyes..
its crazy because out of the two songs you posted i prefer his new song though id want him to rap like he did back in ssep/lp/mmlp days. raw.. and no he wasnt dropping celebrity references on everything either so I dont judge em's style from The Real Slim Shady and shit like that.

not all the best examples but he didnt have to refer to celebrities to get his punchlines in. Yeah his style is matured now and I dont expect him to rap like this, but the thing is... on relapse thats what he tried doing and did not fully capture the magic. If relapse 2 is gonna be any good its gonna be because em focused on good songwriting instead of forcing punchlines.
.....but being anally raped by his stepdad and sucking semen out of a straw is "fucking dope".. :hosea:
I hate to say this, but I ALMOST miss the time when rap was for homophobes...
Rofl
OT:
Older, but after Infinite. Say what you want about it, but he obviously was swagger jacking and still finding himself.
Nowadays Em is wack to me. Most of his verses got no topic, and when he do he'll manage to pull concepts like 'insane'.. And beautiful is the most overrated bland shit I've ever heard. His flow is less effortless and that whole track is just pretty much straight forward and simplistic as fuck. Since when was it ok to rhyme slump-hump-dump in three lines without even adding anything to the meaning of the lines? That shit don't fly with me. The chorus is corny as fuck (the peoples at aftermath needs to have an intervention for Em's singing.. It's THAT horrible).
I still got hope in him though :) Cut the voice, add some actual content and good concepts and we still got ourself a great rapper, which he still proves at time

^That first verse is straight crack.
^ i didn't say the topic was dope..it's retarded by im talking about rhythem and flow..he rhymed well in it but the topic is still retartded and weird
His crack in drop the world with wayne is pretty mad. like any rapper everyone has mad stuff an shit stuff.
