Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
So ive got a rhode nt1a mic and a lexicon lambda amp. ive been trying to mess around with this prgram for a few hours, ive read and setup the project from the "getting started" manual, but then theres another manual for the operations that says i have to setup something else er w.e
but my problem is everything is hooked up and working and being registered by the amp and the program, but i can only hear the intrumental through the amp and the headphones that are plugged into the amp. but no music is being played out of my laptops speakers.)actually real cpu speakers, i just plug them into the slot where your suppose to plug your hd phones to listen to music)
and also, i found this unbelievable weird, that the manual did not show me how to setup the things i need to record "my voice" in a track, i mean it showed how to setup to add the instro just not vocals.
and also, do i setup the intro track im using in mono 1? and the vocals stereo 1 aswell. and what busses do i set them too.
i know this is alot of information to help me with, but if somecan can shed some light on me it would be much apreciated.
thanks.

Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
put the instru in stereo as well as ur vocals... i onno y u should put them in mono
for the rest.. i dont know :D
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
lol because the manual said put the intros in mono 1.
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
Ok first of all, you don't record vocals to a stereo track. Mono is ONE channel. Stereo is TWO channels. One mic plugged into one pre amp is one channel. Vocals = Mono. An instrumental is stereo. It has a left and a right channel. That's 2 channels. Very simple concept.
Also, your Lambda is your soundcard. Not your built in laptop soundcard. You need to plug your speakers into the lambda.
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
ok on the lambda theres 2 whole to plug in, 1 for instruments and 1 for hd phones, now i would plug my speakers into the hd phone section on it im assuming, would i put the hd phones into the insert slot on the actualy speakers themself?
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
What? Dude you have a bunch of INS and outs on the back. The speakers plug into the line outputs.
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
LMAO hold on bro, ok im looking at the back of it rite infront of me as we speak, it has at the top " line in- 1 and 2" underneath that "insert- 1 and 2" insert 1 is for mic 1 and insert 2 is for mic 2. then at the bottom i got " line out- 1 and 2" but these dont fit my hd phones, but i got a connector that will make it fit, so insert 1 for mic 1 i would put them in at the back?
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
or should i plug the speakers into insert 1 for mic 1 in the back of it?
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
Dude. I said plug the speakers in the line outputs in the back. How did you get "plug the headphones into insert" ???? Lmfao
plug the speakers... Into line out 1 and 2. Plug the headphones into the headphone Jack in the front lol
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
o my bad bro, its because on insert 1 theres a line going rite to mic 1 and insert to theres 1 going to mic, so i thought that where it is, but its cool, thanks.
keep looking in here every so often im sure ill have a few more questions:thumbup:
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
wait hold on. my speakers im using are cpu speakers like a said not monitors, so there is only 1 wire attaching all of them together, and in line out there not numbered, they lettered L and R left and right, where would i plug into from there? or either one?
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
You'll need an Y adapter. 1/8" stereo female to two 1/4" mono male. Try radioshack or google it.

Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!

Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
iight opey, i got another question.
i bought the y cable today, im playing the music like you said and everything, but heres the thing.
everything is working amp, music, mic etc, but the mic is not being recognized in cubase, i mean when i play the track in cubase i can hear my voice while its going through the mic into my hd phones, just not through the program, you know why?

Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
Make sure you're selecting the mic as your input for the track. Make sure you're record enabling the track. Also, cubase has direct monitoring support. A lot of interfaces have the ability to copy the input signals directly to the outputs so you can monitor your recording with no latency. This is probably the case for you. You can actually disable direct monitoring in one of the drop down menus if you want. The benefit of turning it off is that you can monitor your input with fx and mixing already in place. I usually don't bother, but there are a lot of cases where it's necessary.
I suggest you try recording to see if it's capturing the take without hearing it.

Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
i dont see where any monitering thing is, but ima mess around with it for abit, read the 189324783857832 manuals for it again, then ill come back and let you know whats what.
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
Are you clicking the little speaker icon on the track? That allows you to monitor the signal.
Also, just search the help file for "Direct Monitoring" and it should point you right to where the setting is. I'd definitely turn it off as long as your interface and computer can handle the low latency.

-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!

Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!

Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
The devices are just midi devices. If you hear music then your interface is already set up. Read the manual on how to setup your ins and outs. Can't remember what the window is called off the top. I know it's in the setup drop down menu. It's really easy. Most of the time cubase automatically sets up all the ins and outs. I'd think that you would notice that there's no mic input listed on the input drop down menu for the track you're trying to record on. If the inputs are listed then it's all set up. Make sure it's on the correct input.
I don't get what you're saying about templates. You should be in the edit window. The speaker icon is right next to the record icon on every track. You have to hit both those buttons on the track you're recording on.

^^ hit the speaker icon and arm for only vocals rite, because arming the instro doesnt playback, all the in/outs are only lambda my pre, no mic there wtf?
and the templates, its like rite when you first open cubase and select "new project" it gives you different porject options. lol
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
Why would you record arm the beat?? lol
that means you're trying to record on that track. You record arm the track you're trying to record on. And the speaker icon is input monitoring. You want to monitor the input on the track you're trying to record to.
Obviously the input isn't going to be labeled "mic" lol it doesn't know you have a mic plugged in there lol. There should be an input in the menu for every input on the interface. Same with outputs.

Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
nah, i was just being 100% percent sure, your the wiz, minus well ask stupid questions to you lol, but im on the device setup page ok, and i click the vst connections and its says for intput under bus name' stereo in-speakers-=stereo-audio device= not connected, then the device ports it says are not connected".
then for outputs it says under bus name"stereo out-speakers= stereo-audio device= lambda ASIO-device port= out L and out R"
i dont know what do opey im so mother fucking pissed rite now!
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
also, i just updated all the drivers for the lambda.
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
Select lambda asio for the device name then select the inputs for the device ports. I know this shit is in the manual man. You'd think you'd at least click on the shit and try to select the right audio device. Spoon feeding people like this is fucking frustrating.

Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
lol bro,i have more questions, but i know youo dont have cubase, just you alot about in/out and what not, ive read the maual several time, when i plug in the lambda i cant select and ports to put the vst in, they go by themself. ill try again tomorrow though, if not, ima see if anyone on some other site or what ever kinda has the same setup as i do using cubase le4 and they can send me the project they use maybe.
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
I have cubase. I know cubase very well. A project file won't fix your issues. You have to set up the program correctly. I don't even know what your latest problem is because your post was barely understandable lol
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
lol im lost in my own misery. tell me this though, i go to control panel, then for there to audio devices and hardware...then my options for recording on there are the lambda or some stelmeg something like that, is that what my mics called?
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
Dude, you were in the right menu. Click on the fucking "NOT CONNECTED" and change it to the right shit. Come on man. You're fuckin killing me. I'm doing everything but doing it for you.
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
i'll figure it out somehow, hopefully.
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
Click on NOT CONNECTED. A fucking drop down menu displays the drivers. Pick Lambda ASIO. Then go to the next column. Select whatever the input is called. You only have 4 inputs on the damn thing. If you pick the wrong 2 then it HAS to be the other 2. This is not complicated in any way. If you can't figure this shit out then you have no business using cubase. You're gonna be WAY lost, and I'm not gonna walk you baby steps thru the whole program lol
-
Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
i meant ima figure it out, but im on my dads computer, not my laptop, so if you think i already tried to connect it, i havent lol.

Re: Cubase le 4 help! OPEY PLZ ENTER asap!
ah, dont worrie man. i think if i cant get it working, i am going to take it to a recording store around here probably. i mean this is the closest ive got it working throughout all the times ive tried, so im happy...somewhat. lol
