Through the Eyes of a Crippled
There were too many people that had suffered from living
Speechless during Thanksgiving...misfits who weren’t fitting
These people were mentally raped...and our God had noticed the hate
He tried to improve their fate... so God built the Realm of Escape
People would step in, simply by having a day full of bad business
God sent them dreams that would bring them in the realm for a few minutes
When someone stepped in this Realm they saw hope in their lives
It was how God told the sad ones to “hold on” and stop wishing they die
The realm was perfect, and it helped some lives be colored in
And this story explains about how once a boy had stumbled in
A sad child, who would act wild for food with a raw tummy
Born with no legs, and his deformed jaw made him talk funny
Jacob…he was sick of life and middle school kids would force him to cry
They wouldn’t come near his wheelchair, was Jacob supposed to know why??
Today was cold, or so he was told, he watched the kids play from the window
Recess was almost over...so he listened for the teacher to whistle
He was staring at Anne, she was holding the hand, of a boy nicknamed, “Stan the baller”
Angry at Stan, Jacob noticed a silver chain around his collar
He wanted Stan’s chain, because maybe Anne would think he’s cooler
Jacob went home and cried, because he will never find a jeweler
Jacob shook his head…Jacob didn’t understand
He didn’t want to grow up and be a lonely man
A stairway popped in Jacob’s dream that night, it was large, a hundred spans wide
But then the stairway’s image was erased, and Jacob couldn’t understand why
He saw a door instead, with a little sign that read, “Realm of Escape” carved in the wood
He knew not what it meant, so he ahead he went, opened the door...and there he stood
Happiness came to him, suddenly he didn’t want to behave so wreckless
He began to move, and he searched the room… on the floor he found a necklace
Jacob smiled, it took a while, but he said : “Aww...What the heck”
He pushed his wheelchair towards the chain and put the gem around his neck
The Next Morning:
Up he gets…he searched his neck…but found it cold and bare
Sad, but he got up…he went to unfold his chair
He wheeled off, and peeled off any sad look that was on his face
Because happiness was now possible, and he owed it to that place
The room was warm, the boys had swarmed, around the girl named Anne
The chairs: They got off and on, the boys can freely sit and stand
Jacob tried to jump...moved his stumps, but there were no legs attached
So all he did was topple down, and the ground was where he crashed
Jacob shook his head, Jacob didn’t understand
He didn’t want to grow up and be a lonely man
That night a stairway appeared inside of his dream
But the image was erased, and a door appeared like a screen
He opened it again, but then something caught his eye
Two legs appeared from under, so he jumped around from the surprise
He jumped inside the room, and as if new legs weren’t enough
His very own chair was in the middle, and it was standing up
Jacob was happy, he felt this room was like his home
With new legs and a new necklace, he stood on top his throne
Because he didn’t want to sit, happily stood up on his chair, singing
Jacobs legs were tired, but he remained afoot...thinking
The hallway was dark, and Jacob marked, the floor with wheelchair skids…
He moved his arms across the wheelchair bars, catching up with the other kid
“Im pathetic, but noones looking. So what would the walls say??”
Started to think, but he reached the stairs at the end of the hallway
“This is it! My dreams come true!” ...he remembered the stairs from his dreams at home
The kids went up, Jacob didn’t budge, and remained at the bottom alone
Jacob shook his head…Jacob didn’t understand
He didn’t want to grow up and be a lonely man
Sleep that night came again when Jacob closed his eyes
He was standing on his chair again enjoying his new prize
But Jacob wasn’t happy, in fact, he was tearing alot
He felt the necklace grasping his neck to the point that it got hot
Jacob moved his head around…and from the necklace he had a feeling
He looked above him and finally noticed it was connected to the ceiling
Jacob sobbed at the real world, with his Tears running out
He kicked his throne aside, choking, his feet hanging down
Jacob opened his eyes, he was surprised at his scary dream
He opened his mouth to take a gasp but nothing helped him breath
He felt the pain around his neck, his face had turned blueish
Jacob tried to Escape from the Realm, but he closed his eyes and returned to it
The necklace became loose and Jacob started to head out of the dark room
He saw the stairway outside the door…and proceeded to walk through
The stairway didn’t disappear this time, it was made of solid wood
He thought hard, and shook his head...and Jacob understood
...
...
Jacob sighed, concluded his life, and made an approval nod
Jacob died, escaped from his life, as he climbed up the steps to God
