Wants to record! WOW! actually it's more for just to sing and record, but I might rap a bit on the mic if I got time ever...but anyways...can anything let me know about a good, yet inexpensive mixer and preamp for my computer? (I have Adobe Audition 1.5 and Frooty Loops....if it matters)

but id like to add that audio technica at2020 is affordable and good quality with like insane spl level
a really cheap reamp is the m-audio buddy and its durable as shit but proly not warm enough for your voice
try getting a tube amp id say if you can be careful with it
and i dont know shit about mixers but hoenstly you dont really need one unless your recording alot of instruments
just use a digital mixer in adobe
get the at2020... if you're going to sing... that's when I recommend audio technica mics... so sexy for cheap... rode sounds better for rap to me... don't know why... until you get into the higher mics... anyway...
get that mic...
a emu 0404... it's a sound interface... it has a pre and it'll do better than any pre in the price range... she doesn't need a tube pre... especially ANYTHING with a tube under 1000... they are super shitty.
get sony mdr 7506 headphones... plug and play and record.
use whatever shitty computer/dynamic mic you got on hand until you learn how to deliver, convey emotion and stay on beat.
that should keep you busy for three to five months.
in that time you can work a part timer, if you dont already have a job, and collect some cash to go shopping for a mic that fits your delevoped style - which will result in even better tracks.
don't feel intimidated because you're a woman, though. in all honesty, you have a marketing edge that men would kill for. boobs. haha.

i think instead of recommending the nt1a all the time, recommend the Studio Projects C1. It's only $40 more, and wayyyyyyyyy clearer/overall better than the nt1a. by a longshot.

mine was $300
and that is considered low budget
most pre amps are expensive...you can maybe find a used decent one for like $400 at a music store...
you'll need headphones, I use sony mdr-nc6 with the noise cancelling feature, they was like $100....
and get good speakers, every piece of equipment on your computer will affect the outcome of your quality
im selling my rode k2 for 500 bucks if your interested.
