An elo system is too complex for this but you can mimic any elo system with a point system

Like everyone starts with a x number of points if they are at zero you get no points for beating them the stats can be filtered based on that

Winning = 5pts
Losing = - 5pts
Also a way to wager points during battles. This all exist, I’ve seen it done before back in the ol’ days.

Will involve a lot of work or you can just put in place and allow the user to provide links for record updating which upon completion will include them in the rankings.
I was largely just suggesting topical and 1-2 are all I really do here
