I felt that:

Set the tone / flamboyant as fuck

Letterman shows / CBS

Bigger stretch / nice and limber

On the fence / stomping you out

Succession / suck session


Were pretty clearly better than anything he came with, except maybe the calamine joint. His wording was bad and the wordplay was forced. If I’m wrong then I’m wrong, but I don’t see how someone reads those two verses and legitimately believes his was better.
