first order of business, i'm going to be asking other mods to create sticky threads for certain legends noms in their respected areas. for example, an OM legends nomination will be posted in OM and SS. a text battle will be posted in LLL and FL, and so on.

And for the record, with regards to poetry I agree with Neruda. When I said the pieces in there shouldn't be removed because they were indicative of Legendary at their time it wasn't arguing that poetry isn't timeless. It is. But those pieces are what was legendary then and are indicative of what was deemed the best at the time. In five years from now if another crop of poets blows the current inducted pieces out of the water... should we remove those as well? I don't think so. It's less a question of poetry evolving and more a question of the board evolving.

i also wanted to see what you guys thought about restricting voting to members who have at least one medal in the area of the nomination. excluding only the 25+ medal (50+ would be cool) for text.
it wouldn't apply to the noms already open, and we would have to lower the amount of Yes votes required to get in slightly. like from 13 to 11 or something.
I like the idea in theory, however.. when it comes to topicals/poetry and even audio, sometimes even people who are above average or know what they are talking about don't have any medals for their areas.
word... like I don't have any medals in audio but we all know I'm a good judge of rapping and battling...

I was searching some old dope battles and I must say... the voting back in the day was so horrendously critical it was ridiculous. like some really dope battles were getting hated on. So when battles get nominated, I request voters to NOT read the votes, and to only read the verses because alot of the votes are a buncha stuck up hatin ass sock bangers

I agree that only established text battlers of the past or present text battlers should be allowed to vote on text battles.

I know for a fact Varentao's pieces weren't voted in; I remember Feeble just picking those pieces at random and putting them in because he was shocked Varentao didn't have anything inducted.
when Varentao was put in, it was well after his time being active here i'm pretty sure. so it would have been next to impossible to get enough votes to put him in, and he absolutely deserved it. idk about putting random pieces in, but as a legendary member definitely.
that being said, cats need to stop worrying about whats already in Legends and focus on the current nominations. if its in there, its in there and nothing is changing that.

When I get to a computer I'm gonna look at the last year of poetry hofs and nom the best of those. I'll do it again in December for pieces from the second half of the year. I think this rush to induct newer pieces is going to result in some haphazard nominations and good things being overlooked unless there is a system.

I like the idea of only inducting things once (maybe twice) a year, and taking the best of HOF'd pieces from that year as Legends nominations. Then you can set up a system where each league/subforum has it's own HOF that it deliberates on, and we pick from there.
as far as putting a system together, i definitely like the idea of filtering through HoF sections. but yearly is way too far apart imo. monthly would make sense.
