I'm not saying escalate was a great word for the sentence, just that it works better than excel. Excel gives no reference point, and just means to be proficient at whatever, where as escalate means to increase. So he was missing a noun to determine what was actually increasing, but if you were going to correct him you should have at least corrected him correctly lmao. Elevated would have been the word to use dip shit
