they always say that but truthfully, they have such a high recruiting drop out rate that they regularly give out waivers for normally “un recruitable” offenses like tattoos, low ASVAB scores, prior gang affiliation, age, mental health, weight, physical health, drug use and some others. when i did recruiting duty after boot camp, i was amazed to see the extents they’re willing to go to get bodies in the ranks. typically they only hand out these types of waivers at the end of each month when they need to bump up recruiting stats, or when the quarterly quota is due and the office wants to ask for new shiny things.
i know it’s probably too late now, but i guarantee that if you went into an office anywhere between halloween & nov 10 (which is the Corps bday) they’d start discussing waivers. that is unless you have some super offensive or gang inspired looking ink. other than that, you’d be good. i served with an officer who had a full tribal sleeve that covered his arms, chest, back & part of his neck too.
I got neck and hand tattoos. None of the other stuff.
