Yea of course, it has to be flipped well. But a concept being used before multiple times doesn't matter as much if they DO flip it well. Ppl who have done text for longer have just seen more concepts used in general so obv things end up being played more easily for them.
When I'm voting and see a wordplay or concept I've seen before, first I ask the question "Was this any different from what I've already seen?" and if it is, then I evaluate the bar on its own merits, using a set of attributes as my guideline. If it's way too similar or lesser in quality, then I discredit the bar based on that. That rarely happens because I try to be objective, but sometimes it's necessary.

What I love about text is that you see concepts and wordplays that live battle rappers from different leagues struggle to pull off or drop it with the self-confidence that what they've said is so original, and many of those concepts and wordplays have been used by textcees for nearly 3 decades. I'm appreciative of everything I managed to learn from text, when my granddaughter turned 16 I tried to get her into it because she has a knack for creative writing but she gave that up after the malaria.
