Patriotism has definately come into fashion since 9/11. I used to have an American flag hung up as a window shade and my landlord told me that I had to take it down because it made his apartment look like a hippie house, the some jets fly into some buildings and everyone and there mother has a flag.

I never said I wouldn't fight. I just happen to think that waltzing into a country just because you can and causing widespread chaos and leaving people in more poverty than they were in before you came to recue them is somewhat wrong. I was active in the nations defense sector prior to 9/11, I had been deployed to over 8 sites and coordinated over 100 reconnaissance missions before that date. As most know I am not an enlisted man and I did not join the military. I am a defense contractor with a background in Radar systems, and electronic engineering, (at the time) I studied and decided to advise on technical issue's for the US Air Force, (at the time). So you can't call me a band wagon patriot, you can't say I'm just older and don't understand, because I'm only in my twenties, early very early that is... Secuirty has always been an issue with me, love for this country since the day I was born. I am a mexican american who is blessed from birth in this great nation. Most mexicano's still have family back in mexico, who would kill for the opprotunites our children have here. C, I remeber your comments about not being able to go to a school of your chioce.. Well dawg, I went to a violent ass high school, with a horrible academic program, but I decided to pursure education via any means possible. I did not break from the pressure's society put's on us, I did not succum to the far reaching arms of injustice. I came from the ghetto's of LA, with every negative effect that life can have on a person, yet when I learned I was having a child of my own, I elevated! WTF? How can you compare commercial electronics advancement of Japan, to the overall technological breakthoughs of the US. I am not attacking the brilliance of Japenesse Engineering, as an Engineer myself I hold them with high regard. I just can't believe you actually think they are on the cutting edge of overall technology... The US is the world leader in Technological advancements and research, we are years and years ahead of everybody in that Arena. Not in every segment or industry, but overall, and where the research is most crucial. Consumer electronics is not our forte since our wages paid in this country are too high to compete with the world markets. We acknoledge and accept that in general terms. We would never allow ourselves to fall behind in such areas, critical to national defense, secuirity, communicatons, space exploration, and so many other area's. Our power is derrived from technology, what other country has allocated the dollars needed to add smartweapons to an all ready powerfull arsenal. Not a one, has spent as much money looking for ways to LIMIT death counts. Those weapons stratigeclly inhanced to hit a specific target are just one more way America has tried to make war more humane. I know it's a contrdiction of terms, but in a imperfect world our sole measurement is less or more (humane). These weapons are more, although you may say not all hit intended targets, there is always a percentage of error in every science, and less destruction is certainly better than more. With that said, I'd like to offer my opinion on this subject from a slightly different perspective. See, I was not born in the u.s. I was born in Azerbaijan, in the former Soviet Union. When I was one year old, my family immigrated to the United States. Now I'm 15, and I must honestly say, I do a lot of travel to europe/the carribean/etc, and although I do not support the president of our country whatsoever, and I definately do not support the war in Iraq, America is still, to me, the greatest place to live in. And any of you people complaining about how we don't have enough freedom etc, well name me one other country, with the exception of canada lol, where they have as much freedom and opprotunity as we do here. Name another country where your choice of college extents from ivy league, to in state/out of state, to any colleges in the country. Name another country where you can be whatever you want to be when you are an adult. America offers more freedom then any other country. That is why, for me, it is truly the greatest place to live in.
oh well, in a way, i still think canada is gay, jus along wit all the otha countries, most of them be on some bullshit, and i got zero tolerance for bullshit lol, but its hot that weed and drinkin and drivin and shit, but how great is it when u get ya car stolen and killed n shit, like even in puerto rico when i was there shit was crazy, cops beatin niggas wit billy clubs n shit for no reason lmao, shits funny though, as long as it dont happen to me

I agree with The End. Our government is ver boisterous and we love to put our to cents in about whats going on with everyone else. The whole 9/11, which by the way I do not condone, happened because of something we did back in the day. The U.S. is good at helping to make a mess and fight but not to clean up.

there is an alotment of money, like a budget for foreign affairs. Besides what could we do with 151 billion? Yes, help the homeless, but we already have programs that are geared towards that, people just don't take advantage of them. We don't know how to use money wisely here, thats why tax maybe higher. We can't just start handing money out. Some of the money that they are spending is for our troops, I mean they are over there, they need to build camps, food, etc. Besides America always gives money to other countries, kind of like an IOU for fucking up your country. And in doing this, it makes the Americans look like they don't mean to kill innocent Iraqis (ha!) and only wanted the intended terrorists to suffer. Hey, we say we're fighting "for" Iraq and its people, because they can't do it themselves...

Yes, I see in the shit that goes on in my community, do you? I mean I partcipate in many things; volunteer to feed the hungry, I'm a big sister to inner city youth, and I volunteer as a peer counselor to teen mothers and those pregnant. Do you know how many government programs are geared to help those in need? In fact there is more monetary aid for the less fortunate than there are for schools.
It's all about retribution. It is not the WHOLE country against us, remember it's a terrorist group, extremists. If a group of American radical activists made some political statement in another country say Canada, a statement against there government and demeaning to its people, should Canada blame every American or the country in general? Thats why hate crime is at an all time high, people assume you're of mid-eastern persuassion you're related to Osama. Narrow minded views, if you ask me.....
