Maybe the open battles should be set to descending.
Therefore, instead of the newest battles being put on the top of the list of posts, they will be posted to the bottom of the lists.
That way older battles get voted first.
It seems that when people vote, the just click the first open battle they see.
When! I vote I always start at the bottom.

whomever sets up the battle gets to set the deadline in the Time Zone of their preference, especially since they used their FL point to set the battle, it'd be courteous.
