Living in Hell---Have Mercy
Matthew packed his bags; sad he ransacked for rags
Begged for drags, lit cigarette butts- saw cancer ads
caved the cigarette into the cobbled street with his heel
a warm heart peeled like dead skin, he never healed
the feds rang past, their wailing horn screaming murder
Blue faced, treads cleaning remnants of the last burger
from his threads, a prize catch-caught last December
since then he cuisines with food tipped- the ember
burns in the fire store, he watches an outside entity
Was he meant to be what he was a loss of identity
Wiping his hands on the clothes his feet drag along
he sees faces sag, melancholic but glad in the throng
He can lose himself for a moment..Musician’s lilt
their words, sweet music “Brucia La Luna” built
He sees the joker stilt, a free joy pure and gild
then he remembers Cassandra, riddled with guilt
What would she say?... he staggers along his path
Forlorn to a resigned faith, passive in penance, hath
he done a sin?..Dear reader- that is for him to tell
Matthew moves along listening to the chiming bell
Then he rests at her grave, apologizing for his day
For watching a play...Away in dreams he let it sway
His thoughts, must she not forgive him- his haunts
Demons gather like gathers an unlit room darkness
Starkness creeps in like a fanatic’s religious hardness
So he sobs with tears...living in a manmade hell
Clearly he nearly gained mercy from the mental cell
Where Cassandra was occupied, he couldn’t ignore
so he implored to be ridden by mercy from this chore
Praying for penance every night he cried & he cried
He’s been praying ever since-his invisible friend died

Baron wins by no show, but I will leave this open for critique as I will be criticizing later on
