This is from a bad time in my life…
My time above ground is marginal as I lie on the floor
I find it hard to trace scars and play a tiny part
If only love were found and simply what I came here for
Then in dark, I could start keeping on even when I’m losing heart
Once I could have said “yea I have a mother who loves me”
But now things you’ve said make me not so sure
And surely questioned surety obscures my clarity
Don’t get me wrong I’ve tried to come to an understanding
Your father is dying and “you love him, he loves you”
However, prioritize this if the analogy is not demanding
Why bother to put my heart out, I’m losing a parent too
So every time mom finds a way to misconstrue
Twist my words with turns, assume by false contortion
This son feels that he will never get his due
Time and again an emotional post-natal abortion
Can I stay real? So bring me down this won’t?
Though my wounds heal, know that scars don’t
And that’s it for now…
